Tech Week Info & Meals
(
The week leading up to the opening night performance is referred to as tech week. The main purpose of tech week is to incorporate all of the technical elements of the show (set, props, costumes, lights, and sound) into the actor’s performance. Actors need time to become accustomed to performing alongside these elements before opening night. Just as actors need to rehearse to be prepared, the hair, makeup, costume, light, sound and stage crew need to rehearse in performance conditions prior to opening night.
Tech week is mandatory for all cast and crew members. We do occasionally make exceptions based on a person’s attendance and how well they know the show, their role in the show and other family obligations. If there are any conflicts with our tech week schedule, it is best to let us know as early as possible so that we can schedule accordingly.
Tech week rehearsals start after school at 3:00pm and run until 7:00pm. We do occasionally need to extend the rehearsal depending on how the rehearsals are going. If we extend rehearsal, we will send out a remind notification before 6:30pm.
Since our tech week rehearsals run longer, we feed the entire cast and crew prior to rehearsing. For the past several years we have had these meals catered. This is the easiest and best way to ensure that the food arrives on time and is ready to go so that we can start rehearsals promptly.
To offset the cost of these meals, each cast and crew member must pay for their tech week meals PRIOR to tech week. We feed each cast and crew member a balanced meal, dessert and drink for $5 each day. The tech week meals are paid for when you purchase your tickets during the parent sale dates.
** Although we consider the Saturday, November 16 rehearsal as the start of tech week, there is no meal provided that day since we are not staying after school. Tech week meals are only provided November 18 - November 22.**
